Liverpool want to sign Augsburg left-back Phillip Max this summer as they aim to bring in a back-up for Andy Robertson.
According to Sport, via The BBC, Liverpool are keen on a deal to bring Max to England this summer.
The report claims that Liverpool are interested in signing a left-back to cover for Robertson, after Alberto Moreno left the club.
Moreno’s contract expired at the start of this month and left as a free agent, with Liverpool now looking to sign Max as his replacement.
The German defender joining Augsburg in 2015 and has played over 100 Bundesliga games for the club since, scoring seven goals from defence. He also played for Schalke and Bayern Munich during his youth career.
He has not been capped by Germany at international level in the conventional sense, but played three games for his country at the Olympics in 2016 – winning a silver medal.
Left-backs Liverpool could sign
The Southampton defender would be a solid back-up to Robertson. He has plenty of Premier League experience already under his belt.
The talented Norwich youngster has a lot of potential and could thrive under Jurgen Klopp.
Gaya would add excellent strength in depth for Liverpool down the left-hand side, after an impressive year with Valencia.
The English fullback would be a solid option down the left when called upon for Liverpool. Unlikely to overtake Robertson, but good enough when needed.
