Barcelona have entered the race to sign Valencia star Ferran Torres, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The 20-year-old has impressed in Spain this season, registering four goals and assists apiece in La Liga.

Liverpool have previously been linked with a move for Torres, who has a €100 million release clause in his contract.

Signing Torres could mean Liverpool might be able to offload both Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi, both of whom have struggled to match the level required with the Reds this season.

This is assuming Timo Werner joins the club as well, as recent reports claim could be the case.

Origi was poor on the left wing against Chelsea on Tuesday night, with a match rating of just 6.3, highlighting the need for wide reinforcements in the wide positions.

The Belgian isn’t a natural in the role and it blunts the Reds’ attacks, with a central role suiting him better. Two of his three Premier League goals have come when playing centrally this season. Jurgen Klopp’s reluctance to play him there suggests he doesn’t trust him to lead the line, though.

Meanwhile, Shaqiri continues to be injury-plagued. He hasn’t started a game for Liverpool since the win over Monterrey back in December and continues to be linked with a summer move away.
