Liverpool have ‘zero interest’ in bringing Philippe Coutinho back to the club, according to the Mirror’s David Maddock.

The Brazilian departed Anfield back in January 2018, making a big-money move to Barcelona.

Life in Spain hasn’t exactly panned out in the way Coutinho had hoped, however, and he is currently on loan at Bayern Munich.

Despite rumours linking the 27-year-old with a Liverpool reunion, Maddock has ruled out a transfer happening this summer.

He states that it could mean Coutinho moves to a top-six Premier League rival instead, with Barca willing to sell him.

Coutinho was a fantastic player for five years at Liverpool, but I don’t see the need to bring him back. The Reds have moved on since he left, with Jurgen Klopp finding a perfect balance in his midfield and attack.

Coutinho is almost too flamboyant to thrive in this industrious midfield – he averages fewer tackles per game this season (1.0) than Jordan Henderson (2.2), Fabinho (2.1) and Naby Keita (1.8) – and lacks the pace out wide to flourish in the front-three.

He also turns 28 this year, so I don’t see him as a long-term option, considering he is the same age as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Coutinho may also not come cheap, when that money could be spent on more tailor-made players, such as Timo Werner, who has a release clause of £50m.
