Liverpool will have to pay £53 million to trigger Timo Werner’s release clause, according to Transfermarkt, who cite Sport Bild.
The Reds are still believed to be monitoring the RB Leipzig striker closely, with a view to a potential summer move.
It has been mooted that Werner’s release clause needed to be met by April, but this update suggests otherwise, affording the Reds more time.
June 15th is named as the cut-off point for Liverpool, or any club for that matter, in order to sign the 24-year-old.

I think triggering Werner’s release clause is a no-brainer when you look at his pedigree in recent years. For a player with 88 goals in 150 Leipzig appearances to cost £53 million is a bargain, considering someone like Jadon Sancho could cost double that amount.
At 24, Werner is primed to be a success at Liverpool, bringing with him the same speed, versatility and end product associated with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
With the African pair set to be on Africa Cup of Nations duty next January and February, the Germany international could be tasked with being a key man quickly. I believe Liverpool will end up getting their man, with Werner himself hinting that he wants to join the Reds, and his price tag could end up being looked back on similarly to past bargains such as Salah, Mane and Virgil van Dijk.
