Liverpool fans love what Lovren’s had to say about the “crazy” schedule

A number of Liverpool fans have been lauding Dejan Lovren for his honesty, after he criticised the “crazy schedule” that footballers are having to tackle currently.

The 2020/21 season started later than usual, due to the virus affecting the world currently, meaning matches will have to be crammed in more than ever.

Liverpool are playing three games a week for the remainder of 2020, and have been for much of the campaign already, as well as having many players currently representing their countries on international duty.

The Reds are suffering an injury crisis and it is hard to deny that the schedule is not helping matters, with Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita already missing chunks of actions this season – some more than others, sadly.

On Thursday, Lovren opened up about what is being asked of players on Twitter, criticising the schedule and saying it is no surprise that so many injuries are occurring:

Not having a standard pre-season is also mentioned as a reason for it, as the former Liverpool man bemoaned the current situation.

These Reds supporters took to Twitter to hail Lovren’s honesty, with some calling for him to return and solve the crisis.
