Liverpool made four new signings during the summer transfer window in what was an important period for Andoni Iraola.
And Ronald Araujo was the Reds’ most surprising addition as the Uruguayan joined the club on a season-long loan deal with an option to make it permanent.
It’s safe to say Araujo has fared quite well since his move to England, having filled in as a right-back.
And now, if reports from Spain are to be believed, the Reds want to return to Barcelona for Araujo’s former teammate Marc Bernal.
Liverpool want Marc Bernal
Journalist Juan Jesus has confirmed that the Reds want to sign the Spaniard, who could be on the move in the winter transfer window.
He wrote on X: “As we revealed previously, Liverpool is very interested in Marc Bernal.
“A move in this winter market is not ruled out at all. Iraola is an absolute fan of Marc Bernal.
“With Frenkie de Jong’s return, the minutes are going to decrease drastically for the Catalan youth player.
“Playing time will be a determining factor that will weigh heavily in his decision this winter.”
Bernal isn’t a regular starter for Barcelona, but the Catalan giants won’t let go of him without a fight.
As for Liverpool, it remains to be seen if he’s the profile they want to target, with others such as Alex Scott, Lamine Camara and Manu Kone also linked with the club.
