Inter Milan join the race to sign Gini Wijnaldum from Liverpool

Inter Milan have joined the race to sign Gini Wijnaldum from Liverpool, according to Calciomercato.

The 30-year-old has made an impressive start to the season, not only shining for the Reds but also the Netherlands.

Wijnaldum’s current Liverpool deal expires at the end of the season, with no extension on the cards, as things stand.

It means the Dutchman could bring an end of five seasons at Anfield, during which time he has became a priceless part of the team, playing such an understated role in midfield.

It is believed that Inter are willing to rival Barcelona in bidding for Wijnaldum, nabbing him on a free transfer next summer.

The general feeling seems to be that Wijnaldum will move on when the 2020/21 campaign finishes, but there would certainly be no complains if he extended his stay on Merseyside.

The former Newcastle United might not always receive as much credit as others, or be noticed as often in games, but he has played a major role in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp.

Not only is he a consistent performer in the middle of the park, providing stability and industry, but his fitness record is also exemplary, unlike too many Liverpool players currently.

If Wijnaldum decides to move on, it is a decision that will be accepted, but keeping hold of him could be the more ideal scenario.
