Liverpool fans react at David Coote is removed from VAR duty for Leicester clash

A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news that David Coote has been removed from VAR duty for the weekend clash with Leicester City.

The Reds host the current Premier League leaders on Sunday night in what could be a thrilling contest. Both sides have injury problems, with both Jurgen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers aware that a win for their respective teams would be a signal of intent.

Earlier in the week, there was deep frustration from some Liverpool supporters when it was revealed that Coote would be in charge of VAR for the game.

That is because of his performance in last month’s Merseyside derby away to Everton, when Coote not only failed to pick out a red card tackle by Jordan Pickford on Virgil van Dijk, but also harshly ruled out Jordan Henderson’s late goal for offside.

It seemed a baffling decision to put Coote on VAR duty for another Liverpool game so soon, but on Wednesday it was confirmed that he was no longer on duty for the Leicester clash.

That job has now been given to Andre Marriner, with the hope that no controversy is on show at Anfield on Sunday.

These Liverpool fans have been reacting to the decision on Twitter, with positivity the order of the day.
