This is huge news for Liverpool, with Fabinho proving to be an outstanding signing from Monaco.
The way in which he has seamlessly slotted into the Reds’ defence sums up his versatility and intelligence – if you didn’t know he was generally a midfielder, you would think he had been a centre-back for his whole career.
Fabinho may not always receive the amount of praise that others do, but he has been one of the most important players of the Jurgen Klopp era.
With Van Dijk and Gomez still out for a long time, him staying fit could hold the key in Liverpool’s quest to win back-to-back Premier League titles.
