Caoimhin Kelleher admits it was “a class feeling” to have Liverpool supporters applaud him at Anfield over the weekend.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a memorable few weeks for the Reds, usurping Adrian as Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper, and shining in the absence of the injured Alisson.
Liverpool thumped Wolves 4-0 on Sunday evening, with Kelleher again catching the eye in front of 2,000 fans who were back at Anfield.
Speaking to the media about the welcome he received by the Kop end against Wolves, the Irishman spoke glowingly about the moment:
I think it’s definitely getting easier. On the weekend I felt more comfortable than [Ajax]. It was a class feeling going down and having fans there singing. Hearing them sing You’ll Never Walk Alone was class.

Kelleher has improved so much as a ‘keeper in the last year or so, having struggled in the 5-0 FA Cup defeat away to Aston Villa last season.
He looks a more authoritative figure than Adrian, despite being 11 years younger, and he should now be Alisson’s long-term deputy, if he is happy with that squad role.
More opportunities should come Kelleher’s way in the coming months, especially if Alisson continues to be injury-prone.
