There is still every chance Liverpool won’t sign a new centre-back in January, according to the Telegraph‘s Chris Bascombe.
The Reds have been decimated in that area of the pitch throughout this season, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both likely to be out for the rest of the campaign with serious knee problems.
Not only that, but Joel Matip has been in and out of the side, too, as he continues to be an injury-prone figure.
There have been calls for Liverpool to bring in a centre-back in the January transfer window, and while Bascombe doesn’t rule it out, he states that ‘there is no indication’ the Reds’ stance has changed.

It would be a huge risk for Liverpool not to make defensive reinforcements next month, considering Fabinho is the only available top class option currently.
Relying on the likes of Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips can work from time to time, but not for a lengthy period in a team looking to win both the Premier League and Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp surely sees the need to make a new signing, even if it isn’t an ideal situation.
Someone like Ozan Kabak could make sense, with the Schalke youngster linked with Liverpool numerous times in the past.
