Liverpool could be boosted by the news that Manchester United now have a midweek fixture before their vital Premier League meeting later this month.
United can go level on points with the Reds at the top of the table of Friday night, should they beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have what it takes to mount a genuine title challenge, but they do look a slight threat at the moment.
On Sunday, January 17th, United make the trip to Anfield for what could be a huge meeting between arguably English football’s biggest rivals.
Solskjaer’s men will now have to face a trip to Burnley on the Tuesday before the game, however, following a fixture change that was confirmed on New Year’s Eve.

While United would be expected to beat the Clarets, it still means more minutes in their legs before the Liverpool match, given the champions an advantage.
Jurgen Klopp’s men don’t have midweek action to contend with that week, meaning they should be refreshed and raring to go by the time kickoff arrives.
That being said, Liverpool looked out of rhythm after an eight-day break before the West Brom draw last weekend, so they must avoid a repeat of that.
It remains to be seen how pivotal the United clash could be in the title race, but at this moment, it looks significant.
