World Cup 2026: Liverpool’s Transfer Targets Shine on Biggest Stage

Liverpool are preparing to embark on another aggressive recruitment drive this summer to build a squad ready to compete on multiple fronts under new Spanish coach Andoni Iraola, and several of their prime transfer targets have been turning heads at the FIFA 2026 World Cup.

Competition for signatures is expected to be stiff, however, Liverpool are well positioned to win battles for several stars and despite last season’s disappointing title defense, the Reds’ coffers remain full enough to fund a second successive summer splurge002E

Alongside performing on the pitch, many of the players on Liverpool’s recruitment radar have also attracted significant attention among football fans following the tournament. As supporters track standout performers and emerging transfer stories, many also compare betting markets and bookmaker offers through betting comparison and review platforms such as MansionBet.com, where several of Liverpool’s reported targets have featured prominently throughout the 2026 World Cup.

Let’s take a closer look at how some of Liverpool’s targets are performing at the 2026 World Cup.

Yan Diomande (Ivory Coast)

The tricky €100m-rated Ivorian winger has been muted as the prime candidate to fill the void left by the departing Mohamed Salah on the right flank for Liverpool, and the 19-year-old starlet looked every inch a potential superstar in Les Éléphants’ 1-0 victory over Ecuador in Philadelphia on June 14th.

According to the World Cup stats at WhoScored, Diomande completed four successful dribbles against the Ecuadorians, a tally only bested by teammate Amad Diallo (six). Highlight reels showed Diomande repeatedly skinning his marker, which just so happened to be Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie, which bodes well for any potential adaptation to the Premier League.

Diomande wouldn’t necessarily be a like-for-like replacement for Salah, however, his skillset would definitely give the Liverpool frontline a fresh dynamic. The RB Leipzig attacker excels in one-on-one situations and could be a trump card against defences that sit deep and in low blocks next term.

Lee Han-beom (South Korea)

South Korea’s Lee Han-beom has been identified as a player that could boost Andoni Iraola’s defensive options next term, and the 23-year-old, who currently plays his club football for Midtjylland in Denmark, did his case no harm with a strong showing against the Czech Republic on June 11th

The Taegeuk Warriors emerged as deserved 2-1 victors at the Estadio Akron and Han-beom played his part in the win, with the 6’ 3” centre-half winning 71% of his aerial duels and making five clearances while completing 84% of his attempted passes.

Liverpool aren’t Lee Han-boem’s only suitors however, and Chelsea, Newcastle and Brighton have all also been credited with an interest in acquiring him before the start of the 2026/27 campaign.

Ayyoub Bouaddi (Morocco)

Moroccan midfield dynamo Bouaddi, who has a market value of around €70m according to reports, has emerged as a possible summer signing for Liverpool and the talented teen showcased his talents against Brazil on June 13th

The youngster, who doesn’t turn 19 until October, performed with real authority and maturity in Morocco’s 1-1 draw with the Brazilians, and was central to everything positive produced by an impressive Morocco outfit at the MetLife Stadium.

The all-action midfielder made six ball recoveries, played 11 accurate passes in the final third and completed eight progressive carries during a well-rounded showing that showed why interest in his services has been building so steadily.

Liverpool, as well as Arsenal, are expected to track Bouaddi’s progress closely for the remainder of the World Cup, while some sources have even suggested that both the Reds and the Gunners have opened formal talks with the player’s representatives.

Nico Schlotterbeck (Germany)

Liverpool lost Ibrahima Konate this summer and will need to add a second senior centre-back to their squad to support Virgil van Dijk. Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, who has a release clause of around £50m in his contract, could offer a viable solution to the Reds’ issues.

The classy ball-playing defender starred in Germany’s emphatic 7-1 win over Curacao on June 14th, and though he was largely untroubled at the back, Schlotterbeck was able to showcase his more technical talents against the World Cup debutants.

The 26-year-old notched the Germans’ second goal to restore their lead and he was regularly the starting point of Die Mannschaft’s passing patterns from the back.

Indeed, Schlotterbeck clocked an unmatched 104 touches against Curacao and also played more accurate passes (74) than any other player on the pitch.

Schlotterbeck, as well as Liverpool’s other targets, will be keen to keep his standards high at the World Cup, to solidify his chances of earning a major summer move to Merseyside.
