Liverpool are interested in signing RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate, according to journalist Christian Falk on Twitter.

The Reds’ interest in making a January defensive addition looks to be cooling all the time, but summer reinforcements look likely.
Dayot Upamecano is one player who continues to be linked with Liverpool, but his Leipzig teammate Konate is also in the mix.
Falk claims that the Reds are ‘interested’ in acquiring the 21-year-old’s signature, also mentioning Upamecano at the same time.

With Liverpool reportedly eyeing up a centre-back who is dominant aerially, it is interesting to see that Konate is comfortably outperforming Upamecano in that area.
The young Frenchman is winning an average of 3.0 aerial duels per game in the Bundesliga this season, whereas his colleague’s figure is only 1.4.
That could point towards Konate being a more suited target moving forward, even though his pass completion rate (83.5%) is inferior to Upamecano’s (88.8%).
Both are gifted young defenders with huge potential, so seeing either join Liverpool would be exciting.
