Liverpool have ruled out the possibility of signing Sergio Ramos, according to Mundo Deportivo [via Sport Witness].

The 34-year-old is out of contract at Real Madrid at the end of the season, potentially bringing an end to a great career at the club.

Liverpool have been linked with signing Ramos, but both they and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly have no interest in snapping him up.

Jurgen Klopp may not bring in a centre-back this month, despite calls for him to, instead waiting until the summer for reinforcements.

The idea of Ramos moving to Liverpool never made any sense, considering he turns 35 in March. He would only represent a short-term fix and his best days as a player are now behind him.

Not only that, but Ramos’ past controversy with Liverpool means he may not have been welcomed into the squad, having injured Mohamed Salah in the 2018 Champions League final.

Signing him would have felt like a panic buy – something the Reds simply don’t do with Klopp and Michael Edwards in charge of transfers.

Instead, a younger centre-back with great potential should be expected in the summer window, such as Liverpool-linked RB Leipzig duo Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano.
