Liverpool may have been offered a potential solution to their central defensive problems as West Ham’s Issa Diop is reportedly being allowed to leave on loan this month.

Former Everton manager David Moyes is apparently willing to loan out Diop for the remainder of the season; and with the Reds being touted with an interest previously, the Frenchman could be in the frame for an Anfield move.

The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour at the London Stadium despite having been an integral part of their plans previously.

Normally, Jurgen Klopp would likely not bad an eyelid at this potential loan swoop, but owing to the defensive absentees within his squad, a temporary deal for Diop may be of interest.

Having made more than 30 Premier League appearances in each of his last two seasons with the Hammers and 69 in total, the 6 foot 3 France underage international has seen barely any first team action this season, making just four league appearances.

Klopp’s squad is crying out for an additional centre-half of almost any description.

After utilising two midfielders at centre-back in recent matches as Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams watch on, it has never been more evident that reinforcements are required, especially with Joel Matip’s continued unreliability.

Whilst West Ham may be reluctant to offer a helping hand to a domestic rival, despite the east Londoners’ strong start and the Reds shaky form of late, the two clubs are competing on different fronts.

With growing angry discourse over the impasse from the club regarding an incoming defender, a deal for Diop would at the very least appease the restless Kopites.
