Jurgen Klopp urges Liverpool’s owners to sanction move for David Alaba

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool’s board to sanction a summer move for David Alaba this summer, according to Don Balon.

The Bayern Munich legend has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past, with his contract in Germany expiring at the end of the season.

Real Madrid are believed to have agreed a four-year deal, however, putting them in pole position to sign him.

This latest report claims that Klopp is still keen on bringing the 28-year-old to Liverpool, seeing him as someone who can be a strong addition to his squad.

It does look as though Madrid are strong favourites to snap up Alaba, but it is refreshing to see Klopp reportedly not giving up hope.

The Bayern defender is an outstanding player who is capable of playing at centre-back, left-back or in midfield, so his versatility could be invaluable. At 28, he should also still have a number of years ahead of him at the top.

Alaba has won nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns, too, not to mention winning Austria’s Footballer of the Year award seven times.

Such vast experience and proven quality could only be a good thing, especially on a free transfer.
