Bayern Munich reportedly hold talks to sign Liverpool’s £31.5m midfield general

It has been reported that German giants Bayern Munich have held talks to sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman has been at the club for almost five years since his move from Newcastle United.

During that time, Wijnaldum has helped the club to Champions League and Premier League success.

However, the midfielder has stalled to commit to a new deal at the club this season.

This has led to plenty of interest over his signature and future away from the club.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has suggested that Bayern have started talks with the player’s agent over a move this summer.

The news, as cited by Bayern&Germany on Twitter, reveals that talks are going well between the two parties…

It is a great shame that Wijnaldum will likely leave the club at the end of the campaign.

The Dutchman has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s most used players during his time at Liverpool.

Wijnaldum has represented Liverpool 236 times in all competitions under the German.

Losing a player as important as this will have a huge impact on the squad and the balance within the team.

Not only this, but losing a talent with a current market value of £31.5million for nothing is a great shame too.

Finding a replacement will be one of the clubs main priorities this summer we would imagine.

Players have been linked and plenty have been mentioned, with Lyon’s Houssem Aouar amongst the bunch.

The Frenchman would be a great addition to the starting XI and could fill the void that will be left by Wijnaldum.
