Virals: Liverpool set £10million price tag for Neco Williams

Liverpool youngster Neco Williams is expected to leave the club this summer after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by at Anfield.

The 20-year-old right-back is fresh off the back of a first start for Wales against Italy at Euro 2020 – earning qualification to the knockout phase in the process.

Capped 13 times by the nation, Williams has spent a senior career playing understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold and is believed to be in search of more regular senior action.

Subject to a loan enquiry from Southampton in January, the Reds are now expected to field offers from a multitude of Premier League clubs.

This is according to a report from The Athletic, as cited by James Pearce on Twitter, claiming the club have set a £10million price tag on the youngster.

The report claims Leeds United, Aston Villa and Burnley are all interested in making a permanent deal a reality, whilst the Saints could also return for the Wales starlet.

Despite making six Premier League appearances last term and 14 in all competitions, Jurgen Klopp may refrain from signing a replacement and instead look to Joe Gomez and academy ace Conor Bradley to backup Alexander-Arnold.

Allowing Williams to leave without signing an adequate squad replacement can only be viewed as a risk given how the last season transpired.

Left short of central defenders following the departure of Dejan Lovren, Klopp was made to rue the decision not to sign a fourth option.

Whilst everyone hopes Alexnader-Arnold can play the majority of the season, asking Gomez or Bradley to fill in would be a big blow.

Credit to the £7.2million valued youngster for wanting to find regular first-team action week in, week out at the highest level, something that seems unlikely on Merseyside.

Landing £10million would be a boost to the transfer coffers at Anfield, one Klopp could hopefully put to good use.
