Virals: Liverpool youngster Jakub Ojrzynski reportedly lands new deal

Liverpool youngster Jakub Ojrzynski has reportedly signed a new four-year deal at the club.

The 18-year-old Polish goalkeeper arrived at the club’s academy from Legia Warsaw in 2019 for £300,000 (Transfermarkt), before landing a first professional contract in 2020.

Initially tied down until 2023, the new deal keeping Ojrzynski at Anfield until 2025 is said to be ‘perfect proof’ of the ‘long term’ plan for the Polish youth international.

This is according to a report from Polish website Meczyki, as cited by Sport Witness on Twitter.

During 2020/21 the teenage stopper made 17 appearances for the young Reds and appeared on the first-team bench as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Bramall Lane.

Liverpool truly are developing an army of promising goalkeepers on Merseyside.

Despite allowing Kamil Grabara to leave the club earlier this week in a £3million deal, Ojrzynski joins Marcelo Pitaluga, Harvey Davies, Fabian Mrozek and Liam Hughes as burgeoning hopefuls.

All of the above may have some way to go in their personal development, but in Alisson Becker, there is certainly a role model worth emulating.

To even come close to levels reached by the Brazilian star would be a monumental feat, albeit surpassing the number one and even Caoimhin Kelleher as understudy looks a daunting task.
