The departure of Georginio Wijnaldum has caused quite the stir at Liverpool and in the media.
Following the end of his contract, the club now has a huge void left in their midfield options.
This has led to a number of rumours over a potential replacement with some of Europe’s best linked with the Reds.
So far we have seen the likes of Renato Sanches, Youri Tielemans, and Saúl Ñíguez all linked with a move to Anfield.
However, one player that the club has found themselves linked with is certainly a realistic option.
In light of his fantastic Euro 2020 tournament, Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli has been linked with the Reds.
Liverpool aren’t the only club, however, with Serie A giants Juventus also in pursuit of his signature.
However, in a recent report from Sky Italia, via The Mirror, The Old Lady are struggling to meet Sassuolo’s valuation…
As cited by LFC Transfer Room above, Juventus are currently unable to meet Sassuolo’s £34million valuation.
It also states how Liverpool had previously enquired over Locatelli’s availability and may now revisit their interest.
The Mirror had also claimed how Arsenal were also interested in bringing Locatelli to The Emirates.
Unluckily for the Gunners, the Italian is in search of Champions League football, something they cannot deliver.
Juventus are reportedly strapped for cash this summer and are struggling to come to an agreement with Sassuolo.
Liverpool have found themselves in a great position to attain the 23-year-old if they were to step up their interest.
It is fair to say that given what we were able to see from Locatelli during Euro 2020, £34million is a great deal.
His abilities and role are more than suited to Jurgen Klopp and the team’s style of play and his price is not astronomical.
Locatelli could prove the perfect player in terms of price and ability compared to other targets this summer.
Hopefully the Reds can act upon the void left by Wijnaldum with such as Locatelli.
