Liverpool reportedly ‘set to swap Matip or Origi’ in deal for €50m-rated Argentinian midfielder

This summer is already hotting up for the Reds in the transfer market.

Rumours are flowing in and out of the Liverpool camp over possible arrivals and departures from the club.

So far we have seen French centre-back Ibrahima Konaté join the Reds for £36million.

Not only this, but the club has also allowed the departures of Georginio Wijnladum and Liam Millar.

With that comes the possibility of replacements for the outgoing individuals, especially the hole left by Wijnaldum.

Plenty of players have been linked, but the latest reports suggest an interesting way for the club to do so.

According to a report from Fichajes, via Football365, the Reds are ready to make a move for Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez…

The report suggests that the club could look to include one of either Joel Matip or Divock Origi in the deal.

Betis have valued Rodriguez at €50million, meaning the club would likely have to include a player to get a deal over the line.

Liverpool have been linked with the Argentinian midfielder this past week but merely just to inquire about his situation.

The 27-year-old joined the La Liga club at the start of 2020 and has impressed over the last year and a half.

With a current market value of £19.8million, Betis’ valuation seems quite high given his experience in Europe.

Prior to his move to Spain, much of Rodriguez’s career was spent in Mexico with Club America.

There is clearly talent there and enough for Jurgen Klopp and the club to take an interest in the midfielder.

Hopefully, if an approach is made, the club is careful with the players they put forward towards a swap.

Origi has been subject to a departure which is understandable given his lack of game time.

However, the possibility of losing Matip could have a huge consequence next season.
