Jurgen Klopp dubs £13.5m youngster as the clubs ‘new midfielder’ following MOTM performance

Liverpool’s Premier League season is just on the horizon, with the club coming to the end of their pre-season.

Yesterday saw the Reds take on Athletic Bilbao at Anfield in their penultimate friendly before Saturday.

The game ended 1-1, with Liverpool showing some great football at times throughout the game.

One of the star performers, however, was 18-year-old Harvey Elliott, who showed just how much he benefitted from his loan last season.

The youngster was everywhere, playing in midfield rather than his usual position on either wing.

It was a new role for Elliott and one that he seems to have taken to incredibly well according to Jurgen Klopp.

The German addressed the media after the game and was more than complimentary of his performance.

In which, he stated the club already has a new midfielder in the squad, in the form Elliott, as referenced by AnfieldWatch

His comments come after a number of rumoured moves between the club and midfielders across Europe.

The likes of Renato Sanches, Saúl Ñíguez, Florian Neuhaus, and Youri Tielemans have been linked with the Reds.

However, it appears as though Klopp is happy with his choices at the moment, with Elliott proving impressive.

The teenager has been adapting well to his new position in training and it clearly proved to have worked out well.

It is likely we will see him released in midfielder more frequently this season with him likely to get more chances.

He is an impressive player and at just 18-years-old is continuing to improve.

The club are lucky to have Elliott at the club and if he continues to improve we could see him in the Reds midfield for years to come.
