Virals: Liverpool hold ‘long standing interest’ in Yves Bissouma

Liverpool have been named as one of three Premier League clubs that hold a ‘long standing interest’ in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma

The Reds were linked with a move for the 25-year-old throughout the summer as a replacement, for now, Paris Saint-Germain star, Gini Wijnaldum.

That move failed to materialise as Jurgen Klopp seemingly opted to utilise current squad options to cover the Dutchman’s departure.

However, Metro sports reporter Aden-Jay Wood has claimed on Twitter that the Anfield club could ‘revisit’ their interest when the transfer window reopens in January.

Wood goes on to state that the South Coast club received ‘no official bids’ for the 18 times capped Mali international.

Last season, Bissouma earned an impressive 7.07 average Sofascore rating from 36 Premier League outings as well as praise from Gary Lineker, hailing the ace as ‘exceptional’ following a victory over Everton.

Valued at £22.5million and in the final 24 months of a contract at Brighton (Transfermarkt), it would appear an opportunity could be on the horizon should a new deal not be forthcoming.

Possessing excellent tackling, dribbling and ball interception skills (WhoScored), Bissouma has only missed eight games in three seasons with the Seagulls.

Whether or not Klopp will be forced into the market mid-season remains to be seen, but if so, it would appear the Malian star could be a leading contender.
