Forever 20 unveiling gives Liverpool a permanent Anfield place to remember Diogo Jota

Liverpool have given supporters a permanent Anfield place to remember Diogo Jota and Andre Silva after officially unveiling the club’s new “Forever 20” memorial.

The tribute, installed on 97 Avenue, was confirmed by Liverpool FC on 2 July 2026, on the eve of the first anniversary of the brothers’ tragic passing.

It is a story that reaches beyond a normal club-news cycle. Jota was not simply another forward in Liverpool’s recent history. His No.20 became attached to decisive goals, relentless movement and a bond with the Kop that has clearly endured.

A Memorial Built From Supporter Emotion

The club confirmed the memorial was produced by artist Emma Rodgers and includes a flowing heart sculpture inspired by Jota’s goal celebration. Viewed from different angles, the design also reveals the numbers 20 and 30, the shirt numbers worn by Diogo and Andre.

There are deeply personal details too. The memorial features lyrics from Jota’s song, heard in the 20th minute of Liverpool matches last season, as well as a PlayStation controller marking his love of gaming.

Most significantly, Liverpool say items left in tribute at Anfield after the tragedy in July 2025 have been incorporated into the fabric of the memorial. That gives the installation a rare weight: it is not just a club commission, but a physical extension of the grief and affection supporters carried to the stadium.

Read Liverpool FC previously covered the installation phase of the Anfield memorial. Its unveiling now gives fans a finished place of reflection before another season begins.
