Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is a transfer target for Aston Villa, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Welsh international was signed by former manager Brendan Rodgers, who he’d played under at Swansea City, but he’s failed to nail down a regular place in the first team since his arrival.
Under Jurgen Klopp, Allen has found himself on the substitute’s bench more often than not, and seems pretty low on the pecking order of midfielders at Anfield.
Emre Can and Lucas Leiva have been Klopp’s preferred pairing in recent weeks, while James Milner and Jordan Henderson will be more likely to start over Allen once they return to full fitness.
Villa are in a relegation battle and have just hired a new manager to try to keep them in the division.
Remi Garde has taken over from Tim Sherwood and finds himself in charge of a team sitting bottom of the Premier League table with just five points from 12 games.
Liverpool will need Allen to play his part over a busy winter period, but if reports are to be believed, he could well leave in January.
