Former Liverpool striker David Fairclough has questioned the attitude and desire of Daniel Sturridge as the England international continues to miss games due to injury.
Jurgen Klopp ruled the 26-year-old out of Liverpool’s Capital One Cup game with Bournemouth due to a knee injury, and there are now doubts over whether he’ll be fit to face his former club Chelsea at the weekend.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Fairclough said that while Sturridge is clearly a top-class player, he questions if he has the correct attitude.
Daniel has real star quality but he has to work on his attitude and desire.

Fairclough, who made over 150 appearances for the Reds between 1975 and 1983, questioned the severity of Sturridge’s injuries and said that modern players can often miss games that players from previous generations would have played in.
Picking up these little knocks – surely from time to time they aren’t as bad as first feared?
Maybe the medical team offers players excuses because the modern footballer would not have gone through the pain barrier like older players did.
The ex-Reds forward says that he understands the necessity to be careful with injuries, but that sometimes players need to be prepared to play few the odd knock that they can pick up.
You do have to be careful, but sometimes you hope people show their grit and determination and put it aside to get out there.
