Four Findings: Liverpool 2-0 Wolves

The Reds closed out the Premier League season but their hopes of the title were dashed on the South Coast. Liverpool beat Wolverhampton 2-0 to delight the Anfield faithful for the final match.

For a few moments, hope seemed to present a possibility, only to snatch it away. Liverpool scored first. Then word spread throughout Anfield, Brighton had managed to go ahead against Manchester City. The crowd roared and danced.

Within minutes, City equalized, eventually climbing to a 4-1 lead all but rendering league item theirs by a single point. Still, Liverpool continued to play valiantly with Sadio Mané nodding home his second goal of the game to finish the affair with a 2-0 win.

While the last title now lingers 30 years, Liverpool’s improvement under Jurgen Klopp has been unprecedented. The sting of a single loss to Manchester City by mere centimetres, at that, will smart. Still, this side is not going away and will continue to challenge.

Plus, Liverpool’s season commences to the Champions League final and a chance at their sixth European Cup. As much as the pain of losing another league title might be, the Reds can still bring a trophy back to Merseyside.
