Former Liverpool player and fan favourite, Luis Garcia, was kind enough to answer a couple of quick questions for Read Liverpool’ readers. Here’s what the little Spaniard had to say to Ste Hoare:
Luis, let’s get this out of the way! Do you really drink sangria?
I like Sangria, but I don’t drink it often, just sometimes in the Summer and on special occasions.
Next question…Was it over the line?
Yes it was! I saw it and the linesman did as well, so that is it.
That was obviously a great personal moment in your career and you scored many great goals for Liverpool, do you have a particular favourite?
I think the one vs. Juventus. It was a special one, the best keeper in the world was in the goal and it was a pretty goal.
You played a number of different roles for Liverpool, what position would you say you most preferred?
I liked to play behind the striker and loved to move all around the pitch but Rafa used to move me side to side. Never mind, I just wanted to play!
A lot of fans were very upset when you eventually left the club, can you explain to us the reasons behind your move away, and also why you chose to write that great departing letter?
It’s difficult to find a explanation to that decision right now, at that moment it was the right one, at least that’s what me and my family thought. I had the injury in January so never had the chance to say goodbye to the supporters and many of the people at the club who took care of my family and me. The letter came from my heart.
Finally, you recently played in the Hillsborough Memorial match. What was it like returning to Anfield?
Coming back to Anfield is special for me, and when they invited me to be part of that event, I moved everything I had in mind to be at that game. What an amazing atmosphere that was!
