The international break is over, and the Liverpool players are slowly on their way back to the AXA Training Center. The Reds do have a fresh injury worry, and the list has now grown after Alisson, Mohamed Salah, and Federico Chiesa picked up issues late in March.

Darwin Nunez has opened up about his time at Liverpool, confessing some emotional stuff about life at Anfield. Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate has commented on the ‘difficult season’ as he edges closer to the end of his deal.

All that and more in today’s Liverpool news roundup:

Success is the only way for fans to forget bad seasons, says Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate has admitted that Liverpool are going through a tough season, and it is not a surprise to see a lot of noise around the club.

He stated that the players need to remember how the fans have forgotten about the Europa League qualifications from a few seasons ago, as they won the Premier League last season.

“When we win the league or the Champions League, people will forget every bad season we had. We won the league last season but two seasons before that we were (qualified) in the Europa League. But people don’t talk about this any more. This is just part of the success.

“We have to be relaxed because we have amazing fans and we have to stay together and the success will come, for sure. Maybe this season or maybe in the future for sure.”

Liverpool are still in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League this season, where they face Manchester City and PSG next.

Liverpool star on Real Madrid radar

Hugo Ekitike has done well in his first season at Liverpool and his performances have not gone unnoticed. The Frenchman is already on the Real Madrid radar, as Los Blancos look to bolster their squad.

According to a report in TEAMTalk, Alvaro Arbeloa wants to add a forward to compete with Kylian Mbappe, and the former Eintracht Frankfurt star is one of the targets. The Spanish giants are yet to make a move, but his performances for the club and national team have drawn more eyeballs to him.

Ekitike has scored 17 goals for the Reds since moving in the summer.

Darwin Nunez misses Liverpool after Al-Hilal move

Darwin Nunez moved to Al-Hilal in the summer of 2025, just months after Al-Nassr made a late attempt in the January transfer window. The striker has now managed to settle in well at the Saudi Pro League club and has been dropped from the league squad following the arrival of Karim Benzema in the winter 2026 window.

Speaking to the Uruguay football media team, Nunez said that he misses Liverpool, the city, the fans, and the club. The former Benfica striker said that he went through a tough time in the Premier League, but the fans always backed him and said:

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss them [the people of Liverpool]. The truth is, they made me feel very welcome, and my family too. During some difficult times I went through personally, the people always gave me that affection, that support, and that was very important to me, and obviously I miss Liverpool.”

Liverpool sold Nunez for £46.3 million in the summer to Al-Hilal.

Jeremie Frimpong injured on international duty

Jeremie Frimpong came off the bench for the Netherlands yesterday against Ecuador, but had to come off injured shortly. He played just 13 minutes after coming on for Cody Gakpo at halftime.

This is the third time the right-back has picked up an injury, following his two hamstring injuries earlier this season. The extent of the fresh injury is unknown, and the Reds are sweating on his fitness ahead of the FA Cup clash with Manchester City.
