Liverpool linked with move for German target man

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s veteran striker Stefan Kiessling.

German publication Express report that Klopp is keen to bring in the German international after losing Danny Ings for the season and with Daniel Sturridge still unable to stay healthy enough to put a run of games together.

Thirty-one-year-old Kiessling signed for Leverkusen from Nurnberg for €6.5m in 2006 and has gone on to score over 100 goals for the club.

However, the recent arrival of Javier Hernandez from Manchester United has pushed the veteran down the pecking order.

According to the report, Kiessling, who has been capped six times by Germany, rejected moves to both Turkey and England in the past, but as he enters the twilight of his career, he is considering a move abroad.

Klopp reportedly tried to sign the 6’3″ striker when he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund, and if the German press is to believed, he could try to lure him to Anfield in January.
