Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final in Madrid to claim their sixth European trophy.
Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi scored the decisive goals for the Reds, who weren’t at their best, but played smartly to keep a clean sheet and got the job done.
In the first minute of the game, Sadio Mane tried to cross the ball inside the box, however, Moussa Sissoko handled it to give Liverpool the penalty.
Salah stepped up and converted the spot-kick without much fuss.
After that, Spurs did have more possession of the ball, but never looked creative enough to break down a resilient Reds’ rearguard.
Post half-time, Mauricio Pochettino’s men pushed hard for the equaliser, however, Alisson Becker was in good form. He made three good saves to deny any possibility of a game-levelling goal.
Then, with four minutes, following a Liverpool corner in the second phase, Origi fired the ball across Lloris to score the match-clinching goal.
