Liverpool’s Champions League success in 2005 was one of the most unforgettable sporting achievements of all time.

The Reds went into the 2004/05 season with relatively low expectations in Europe, with Rafa Benitez arriving as manager and still getting his methods across to the players.

What happened next was truly remarkable, though, as Liverpool went all the way, achieving what seemed like the impossible.

After seeing off Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Chelsea in the knockout rounds, a star-studded AC Milan side stood between the Reds and glory.

We all know what occurred next, as Benitez’s men overturned a 3-0 deficit, drawing 3-3 and eventually winning on penalties.

It ensured that those Liverpool players will remain legends at Anfield forever, even those who never actually impressed too much in a Reds shirt.

But what happened to the 11 players who started in Istanbul on that memorable May night back in 2005?
