Liverpool’s incompetence in the transfer market never ceases to amaze, and it hasn’t taken them long to put fans in a bad mood this summer.
In this video, I put across my concerns on the back of the Reds’ failure to get the Virgil van Dijk deal over the line, as well as FSG’s reluctance to pay the required fee for Mohamed Salah and others.
YouTube: LIVERPOOL TRANSFER RANT! What are FSG doing?!
Given the club’s stature, it beggars belief that nobody at Liverpool seems to know how to conduct business in the transfer market.
Last time the Reds finished in the top four, they followed up the campaign with a horrendous summer of spending which saw them miss out on top target Alexis Sanchez and end up with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic and Ricky Lambert. Only now have they recovered.
But Liverpool are in danger of falling flat on their faces again between now and August. Refusing to match Roma’s asking price for Mohamed Salah brings back bad memories and sets a concerning precedent for the weeks and months to come.
If Jurgen Klopp’s top targets slip through his fingers then Reds fans won’t need to get used to the Champions League football that they’ll be enjoying this term.
