Even though Everton failed to turn up at Anfield on Wednesday night, Liverpool were still magnificent to a man (except for Simon Mignolet, but that’s not his fault).
It was plain sailing for the Reds from about 15 minutes onwards. The Toffees started fairly well, and carved out a decent chance for Romelu Lukaku who was thwarted by the excellent Mamadou Sakho before he could get a shot away.
And from that point, Roberto Martinez’s side barely had a kick. They had three touches in Liverpool’s area all game, compared to the Reds’ 64 in theirs.
There won’t have been many more one-sided games in Premier League history. Everton were flattered by the 4-0 scoreline.
