UEFA are investigating a possible anti-doping violation by Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, the club have confirmed.
A report in RMC Sport claims that Sakho has been using a fat burner, and that he will not be selected for the Reds pending further investigations.
This comes as a bitter blow to Liverpool, who have a huge month ahead of them as they look to win the Europa League and push for a place in the top four of the Premier League.
Mamadou Sakho has been suspended by Liverpool after failing a drugs test.

Sakho, whose form and fitness has been up and down this term, has been in terrific form of late, scoring in the 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield and the Merseyside derby in midweek.

Jurgen Klopp has back-up in the form of Martin Skrtel, Lucas Leiva and Kolo Toure, who in 2011 was banned for using a similar substance while at Manchester City.
Sakho’s place in France’s Euro 2016 squad is now very much in doubt.
