Mamadou Sakho has signed a new contract that will keep him at Liverpool until 2020, the club have confirmed.
Sakho had been out of the team for the entirety of this fresh season until Thursday night in Bordeaux where he earned plaudits from boss Brendan Rodgers for his performance.
In the aftermath of the 1-1 draw, Sakho said that he’s a “Liverpool soldier” and he’ll “always rise to the challenge.”

Sakho was signed from PSG on deadline day in the summer transfer window of 2013 for £18m and has been in and out of the team since.
The Frenchman has stayed loyal to Liverpool Football Club through frustrating injuries and spells on the outside looking in. The beginning of this season has been a microcosm of his Liverpool career.
Liverpool fans find the big man an endearing figure and is held in high regard with most supporters.
Rewarding Sakho with a new contract could prove to be a mutually beneficial decision for Liverpool Football Club and the player himself.
