Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is in line to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s matchday squad for the first time when the Reds travel to Etihad Stadium on Saturday to face Premier League leaders Manchester City.
The England international striker injured his knee in a training ground clash with Jordon Ibe as Klopp was preparing his side to face Tottenham, and he’s been out of action since.
However, Andy Hunter of the Guardian confirmed that Sturridge returned to full training at Melwood on Tuesday, and if all goes well, he could be in the squad to face the club where he made his professional debut.

Hunter says that Liverpool’s medical staff are going to monitor the 26-year-old closely this week before deciding if he can be included in the matchday squad.
The news that Sturridge is close to a return is a great boost for Liverpool after they lost Danny Ings to a season-ending knee injury, while Divock Origi struggled to come to terms with the lone striker role.
Christain Benteke has also battled fitness issues, and it’ll be interesting to see how Klopp decides to utilise the pair when they are both fully healthy.
