Four Findings: Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

In a critical clash that could determine the top four, Tottenham Hotspur arrived at Anfield just two points behind Liverpool and lingering in fifth place. Much may have been made of revenge but this match was filled with absolute mayhem, as Liverpool drew with Spurs 2-2.

Having battered the Reds earlier in London, Liverpool used the match to change their fortunes and go on one of their best runs in recent memory. Both sides have experienced a slight wobble and started regaining form of late. Things got off to a dream start for the Reds.

Pressing hard from the start, Liverpool forced errors early and often. Mo Salah pounced on a poor pass in the third minute to put the Reds ahead. For the rest of the first half, Liverpool dominated despite not having the majority of possession. Still, the Reds generated chances but could not increase the advantage.

Spurs may have been rattled but regrouped and came out with far more impetus. Anfield grew anxious as the 1-0 scoreline lasted and Liverpool started looking lost, inviting Spurs onto them. In a flash, Victor Wanyama stunned everyone in the 80th minute with an absolute rocket strike from 30-yards that was on its way out the goal before Loris Karius completed his dive.

Then, chaos ensued. Two penalty calls for Spurs and another Salah stunner left an even scoreline but anyone in Red righteously feeling aggrieved. Given how the Reds played in the second half, the final score may have been indicative of the contest. However, this result will be remembered for refereeing decisions and little else.

Here are four findings from the match.
