Who was Liverpool’s best player against Manchester City?

Sergio Aguero’s equaliser denied Liverpool three points in a crucial clash in the race for the top four at the Etihad Stadium.

In a pulsating contest, there were chances aplenty, with both sides denied potential penalties and squandering glorious opportunities in the first half.

It was the Reds who struck first, though, as James Milner kept his cool from the spot after Gael Clichy clumsily brought down Roberto Firmino.

City piled on the pressure and were level on 70 minutes when Aguero turned in Kevin de Bruyne’s cross, setting up an intense finale.

Both teams will feel aggrieved to have come away with only a point after Adam Lallana and Sergio Aguero inexplicably fumbled late chances.
