Stoke City seek loan move for Mamadou Sakho

Mamadou Sakho could be offered a way out of Merseyside with Stoke ready to offer a loan move for the central defender, according to The Telegraph.

Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes, has made an inquiry for the French International in the hopes of concluding a deal before the end of the transfer window.

Liverpool have made Sakho available to leave on loan on a temporary basis following a fallout with the manager Jürgen Klopp.

The 26-year-old has endured a tough year so far. Being initially banned from playing competitive matches, including the Europa League final and the Euros, following a failed drugs test which he was later exonerated from.

Klopp sent the player home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour for disciplinary issues and he has missed the start of the season due to a heel injury.

Liverpool have claimed there are no plans to sell Mamadou Sakho but they wish to sort out a loan move to improve his fitness levels.

Klopp said after the win over Burton Albion: “I’m happy that I don’t talk in situations like this. Everybody who needs to be informed about this has been informed about this,”

“There are no secrets with the important people, I would say.”

Liverpool have not been very solid defensively so far this season and selling a central defender without bringing in another body would raise a few eyebrows across the Liverpool fan base.

Mark Hughes is looking for defensive cover having not convinced at the back following a 4-1 home defeat to Manchester City and see Mamadou Sakho as a viable option.

Stoke have been rather quiet in the transfer window so far but are still looking to make at least two more signings before August 31.
