Liverpool managed to survive Stoke City for the first semi-final League Cup tie. The Reds left the Britannia Stadium with the thinnest of margins, having edged the Potters 1-0.
Unlike the previous 1-0 victories from the last few weeks that failed to inspire much confidence, this win was on the back of a solid performance. It was a much-needed rebound from Saturday’s woeful loss to West Ham United.
The victory was not without its costs, as Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren were both felled by hamstring injuries, extending Jurgen Klopp’s disdain for that particular injury. However, Coutinho’s substitute Jordon Ibe would come good with the only goal of the match.
Here are four findings from the match.
