The bill for the previous two grinding victories came due in London. While maybe not quite as abject as the display at Watford, Liverpool looked nearly as drab against West Ham in a 2-0 loss at Boleyn Ground.
Almost from the whistle, Liverpool seemed sluggish, lacking movement and touch. Still, not for the first time in recent memory, the Hammers outworked, outfought, and outplayed the Reds, all but coasting to an easy victory.
There was little positive about Liverpool’s performance in what degenerated into a fairly predictable affair. A bigger, stronger, faster side, content to let Liverpool have the ball only to bully them in both final thirds. The Hammers countered with pace and power, delivering simple cross and header football.
Here are four findings from the match.
