There’s a toxic atmosphere around Anfield at the moment and the well-documented off-the-pitch issues will overshadow everything else today – and rightly so.
As far as the game is concerned, we learned precious little. Roberto Firmino was in dazzling form during the second half, adding to the glimpses we’ve seen of his goalscoring credentials this term, but the rest of the side remain largely brittle and unable to see out winning positions.
