Worrying statistic sums up how Andy Robertson’s Liverpool form has dipped

A damning statistic regarding Andy Robertson sums up his current struggles and the waning influence he is having for Liverpool this season.

The Scot has been a magnificent player for the Reds, maturing into arguably the world’s best left-back in recent years.

Robertson is renowned for his end product, registering 35 assists during his time at Anfield, but having been a reliable source of providing goals for so long, that has dried up noticeably of late.

The 26-year-old hasn’t chipped in with an assist since the 7-0 win at Crystal Palace on December 19, when he teed up Roberto Firmino for Liverpool’s third goal of the afternoon.

Thirteen full appearances that have gone by since then, with Robertson playing every minute in 12 of those matches (Transfermarkt), so it’s not as if he hasn’t had the opportunity to supply ammunition for the forwards.

Robertson was superb earlier in the season, and maybe even a Player of the Year contender for Liverpool, but what we are seeing is a player with little left in the tank.

The Scotland captain has had to play a relentless amount of football because Kostas Tsimikas has been injured and adjusting to life at Anfield, and it is taking its toll on the 26-year-old.

Robertson’s normally freakish energy levels are nowhere to be seen a lot of the time, with his link-up play with Sadio Mane also lacking a spark.

Hopefully, eight days without a game will stand him in good stead ahead of Sunday’s trip to Sheffield United, as Liverpool need him back to his best as soon as possible.
