Scotland captain Andy Robertson has been ruled out of his country’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifier against Kazakhstan.
Alex McLeish’s side face their opponents on Thursday night, and while Robertson met up with his teammates in Glasgow, he was advised not to fly out to Kazakhstan.
That is because he requires a dental operation – one of the most obscure reasons for a footballer to miss a game.
Robertson could still face San Marino on Sunday evening, however, depending on how quickly he recovers.
The 25-year-old produced a typically relentless performance for Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, as they returned to the top of the Premier League.
He provided constant energy down the left flank, with the Reds overcoming Fulham 2-1 in a tight contest at Craven Cottage.
Celtic’s Kieran Tierney looks set to start at left-back in Robertson’s absence.
Scotland are also without Jordan Archer, Barry Bannan and Charlie Mulgrew, all of whom have withdrawn from the squad through injury.
