Clyne ruled out for six months after cruciate injury

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has been dealt a major blow ahead of the new season after being ruled out for six months.

The Telegraph claim that the player has been sent home from Liverpool’s US tour and is now sidelined for the foreseeable future after suffering a cruciate knee injury.

Clyne was among the players that were being linked with moves away from Anfield, but this latest news will almost certainly see him remain at the club for the time being.

The former England international, who had spent time on loan at Bournemouth towards the end of last season, had been linked with a return to Crystal Palace to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka – a move that now looks unlikely.

Regular game time at Anfield was always going to be hard to come by next season for Clyne but his future is now likely to be put on hold until the January transfer window.
