Liverpool return to action tomorrow as they take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
The Reds will look to extend their winning run across all competitions to five and are coming on the back of a fantastic 2-0 win against Brighton.
Liverpool’s attack won the game for them in the first half with two quick goals, but overall, their defence was as solid as a rock.
And Steven Gerrard has singled out Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jacquet for special praise after the Reds moved to fourth in the Premier League table.
Steven Gerrard hails Liverpool duo
Araujo put his body on the line a handful of times and has really endeared himself to the Anfield faithful with his passion and work rate.
Jacquet, on the other hand, has quickly become one of the most exciting central defenders on the planet as he capped off another assured display at the back alongside Virgil van Dijk with a clean sheet.
“Araújo is on loan, so I’m interested to see what decision is made there,” said Gerrard via The Overlap.
“He was unbelievable yesterday. Jacquet goes from strength to strength each week, so you can see the future beyond Van Dijk.”
Jury’s out on whether. Araujo’s loan deal will be made permanent, but Jacquet is certainly well positioned to become one of Liverpool’s most important players of Andoni Iraola’s reign.
