Philippe Coutinho has spoken about his desire to score more goals for Liverpool and increase the consistency in his game.
The Brazilian’s performances were one of the main highlights in what turned out to be a topsy-turvy season.
His long-range goals in the league against Southampton and Manchester City caught the attention of many but the midfielder wants more of that.
In an interview with Liverpool FC’s official magazine, he said:
“You always strive for consistency. The game here in England is more intense both with the ball and without the ball.
“I have been trying to adapt so that I can play that kind of game and have a greater intensity about my work.
“[Goalscoring] is something I am working on in every training session. That element of my game has improved but my objective is to try to increase those numbers again and I will be aiming to next season.”
Coutinho went on talk about the appreciation he had for manager Brendan Rodgers for making the move to sign him from Inter Milan and immediately instilling him into the Liverpool starting XI.
“People have to remember that when I came here, I was taken out of an Inter Milan team where I wasn’t really playing.
“I thank Brendan for that. Liverpool have provided me with a platform to play regularly in one of the best leagues in the world.
“Brendan is always available to talk to and for me that is very important.”
Coutinho is currently in the Brazilian training camp awaiting the start of Copa America.
