No sign of Fabinho and Thiago in training ahead of Leicester clash

Liverpool duo Fabinho and Thiago were absent from training on Wednesday, which suggests that they could be doubts for the Premier League clash with Leicester City this weekend.

The Reds are in desperate need of a return to form on Saturday lunchtime, sitting fourth in the table and heading to the third-placed Foxes.

According to the Liverpool Echo, neither Fabinho or Thiago were present in training in preparation for the game, although it hasn’t been confirmed whether they are carrying injuries. It is stated in their report that the Spanish midfielder ‘appeared tired’ at the end of last weekend’s defeat to Manchester City, however, while the Brazilian only recently returned to the fold after a minor injury.

Liverpool have been ravaged by injuries all season and it would be another cruel blow if Fabinho and Thiago were out of Saturday’s match. The pair are hugely important players, with the former excelling at centre-back this season and the latter’s world-class pedigree undeniable following a glittering career.

Fabinho could start alongside Ozan Kabak at centre-back, allowing Jordan Henderson to return to the midfield alongside Thiago and Gini Wijnaldum.

It may simply be that the duo were being rested, but Jurgen Klopp needs them available for a tough weekend clash. Leicester know they can pull six points clear of Liverpool, highlighting the importance of the game, with a response badly needed by the champions.
